FORS Montenegro – Foundation for the Development of Northern Montenegro starts with the implementation of two new EU-funded projects on 1 February. The first project, called Improvement of Traffic and Tourism Signage, is a cross-border initiative implemented within Cross-border Cooperation Programme BiH-Montenegro and covering the municipalities of Niksic and Pljevlja in Montenegro and the Town of Trebinje in BiH. Through this project, worth 162,256.08 euros for Montenegrin side, a contribution to the improvement of the existing situation of both traffic and tourism signage will be made by placing 830 tourism and around 300 traffic signs in both countries, while tourism offer of target municipalities will also be promoted through joint campaign. Apart from FORS, the Municipality of Niksic, Tourism Organisation Niksic, the Town of Trebinje and Tourism Organisation Trebinje are included in the project.
The other project, called Let Me Tell You Something about the EU 2 is a continuation of the work of FORS on informing citizens in northern municipalities about the EU values, its policies, the process of European integration as well as benefits and challenges which are brought about to citizens of the countries on the way to gain full membership of the European Union. The project will be implemented in the following municipalities: Berane, Andrijevica, Plav, Rožaje, Bijelo Polje, Žabljak, Šavnik, Plužine and Pljevlja and it is worth € 63,285.76. It will be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro and local authorities of target municipalities and its main activities include: Celebration of "EU Month" in May this year, public presentations about EU and integration process, promotion of the Instrument for Pre-accession assistance – IPA and projects supported through this mechanism, workshops in primary and secondary schools, EU art competition for primary school students, printing of promotional materials and publications. The project will last twelve months.
