Within the project CLEAN – Citizens Learning Environmental Actions Needed funded by the European Union within Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia – Montenegro, the Municipality of Niksic and FORS Montenegro, in collaboration with the project partners, organised a press conference in order to present the project activities and results achieved so far. It was organised in Niksic, on 5 March and the following representatives of the project partners gave speeches and familiarised the public with the results of the project: Zivko Kecojevic, Manager of the Municipality of Niksic, Miodrag Muratovic, directror of the Public Utility Company Niksic, Zivko Kolasinac, representative oif the Municipality of Nova Varos, Vule Macanovic, representative of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Mithat Bahovic, representative of the Joint Technical Secretariat of the CBC Programme Serbia – Montenegro and Veselin Sturanovic, the Executive Director of FORS Montenegro.
Representatives of the local governments and public utility companies involved in the project emphasised the importance of the equipment which has been procured through this project for improvement of their work and the waste management system. The procured equipment includes 103 containers for selective waste collection, 3 press machine for collected waste, 2 wood shredders, a vacuum cleaner for public spaces and 115 concrete garbage cans. The total value of the equipment is € 105.265,30. Also, they assessed as very useful training activities on proper waste management, selective waste collection and recycling, as well as the study visit to the Waste Management Centre CERO Gajke in Ptuj, Slovenia, which enabled participants to learn about waste management practices applied in the European Union. Raising awareness activities implemented within the project – lectures for citizens and primary school students and distribution of various promotional materials and continuous media campaign and their importance were also mentioned during the press conference.
The press conference was attended by the following media: local TV station "RTV Niksic", Radio of Montenegro and newspapers "Pobjeda", "Dan", "Vijesti" and "Blic".
