On Montenegro's way to the European Union, negotiating chapter 27 – environment is one of the most challenging. As a candidate and ecological state, Montenegro sees negotiations for accession as a good opportunity to improve environmental protection as a necessary precondition for the implementation of the principles and standards of sustainable development.
Environmental goals are the protection of human lives and health, ecosystem quality, plants and animal species and cultural goods created by people and preservation of ecological balance and stability of nature, rational and appropriate use of natural resources. In order to mitigate the negative impact of men on the environment, to harmonize people and nature, and to make sure that they take and influence it only as much as it is necessary, the legislation has to be aligned with good practice and improved.
Considering the fact that the population of Montenegro is insufficiently informed about what is included within negotiations in this area, duties, benefits and constraints of the process of EU accession, FORS Montenegro, within the project "Let Me Tell You Something about the EU 2" organized presentations on this negotiating chapter in Plav and Andrijevica. The presentations were held on 5 September by Sanja Radovic, Secretary of the Working Group 27 for the preparation of negotiations on Montenegro's accession to the EU in the field of the EU acquis in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro and Đorđina Stajkić on behalf of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro. These events were organized in cooperation with local governments. On behalf of the Municipalities of Plav and Andrijevica, Mirza Medunjanin, Secretary of the Municipality of Plav and Miodrag Ivanovic, Manager of the Municipality of Andrijevica welcomed guests.
