FORS Montenegro – Foundation for the Development of Northern Montenegro completed implementation of the 12-month project ″Let me tell you something about the EU-2″, funded by the European Union with the aim of improving knowledge and understanding of the citizens of northern Montenegro about the European Union, its values and institutions and the integration of Montenegro.
The project was implemented in the municipalities of Berane, Andrijevica, Plav, Rozaje, Bijelo Polje, Zabljak, Savnik, Pluzine and Pljevlja, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro and local authorities from target municipalities.
The main project activities included: celebration of EU month in May, public presentations on EU and the integration process, promotion of the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance and the projects supported through this mechanism, workshops in primary and secondary schools, drawing competition for primary school students, literary competition for secondary school students and distribution of promotional materials and publications. Within the press conference organised on 28 January in Bijelo Polje, the awards for the winners of the drawing competition organised for the students of 7th and 8th grade of primary school from all target municipalities were delivered. Sladjana Gutovic from the Educational Centre Pluzine won the first award, the second was won by Milica Bulatovic from Primary School ″Dusan Korac″ from Bijelo Polje and the third went to Dragana Zekovic from the Educational Centre Savnik. The winners were given a laptop computer, digital camera and a printer. The prizes were delivered by Mr Alberto Cammarata, Head of the Political, European Integration and Trade Section at the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, Ms Ivana Petricevic, Director-General for the coordination of EU assistance programmes at the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and Mr Milorad Rmandic, representative of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, who spoke at the press conference, as well.
One of the activities which aroused a very big interest of the target groups was presentation of the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance – IPA and possibilities offered for Montenegrin applicants through that EU mechanism. The presentations were organised on 28 January 2015 in Berane and Bijelo Polje and during December in all other target municipalities.
