On 1 April 2013 FORS Montenegro started the implementation of the project “Green Economy Initiative”, whose aim is to increase involvement of civil society organisations in creation and implementation of local environmental public policies and plans through building capacity of local CSOs to participate in decision making and formulation of public policies and promoting the concept of green economy and its importance in community development through civil society initiatives.
This 20-month project will be realised in the northern region of Montenegro and it will gather environmental and social civil society organisations and build their capacities related to Project Cycle Management, Public advocacy and lobbying, Participation in decision making and Monitoring of public policies. Another project component is promotion of the concept of the green economy as a tool of achieving and maintaining sustainable development which will be implemented through joint activities of the CSOs involved. Special emphasis will be put to involving and educating the young about environmental topics and sustainable development and their own participation in decision making, which will be done through publications, lectures and trainings. The project will be implemented in partnership with the Centre for Environmentally Sustainable Development - CESD from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This project, which is worth 158,673 EUR is funded by the European Union, which finances 89.97% of the total project costs or 142,758.10 EUR.
