On the occasion of presenting the project ″Cross-border Fire Protection″ funded by the European Union within Cross-border Cooperation Programme BiH – Montenegro, a press conference was organised in Sarajevo, in the premises of the Ministry of Security of BiH, on 19 February. Gathered media and guests were addressed by representatives of the instiututions and organisations implementing the project: Assistant Minister of Security of BiH Samir Agic, Director-General of the Directorate for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro Mirsad Mulic, Director of the Instutite for Fires and Explosion Safety Edin Garaplija and Executive Director of FORS Montenegro, Veselin Sturanovic.
Representatives of the partner institutions stated that the project is very important for cooperation between the two countries and that best reponse to emergency situation is a systematic and organised approach which includes engagement of the operating structures of the line ministries of both countries, voluntary fire associations and citizens whose role in preventive actions related o reducing fire risks is necessary.
Implementation of the project whose aim is to improve capacities of institutions and services dealing with protection and rescue for protection from fires and disatser risk reduction started on 18 December 2014 and it will last 24 months. The project will be implemented in 14 municipalities in Montenegro and BiH: Niksic, Zabljak, Pluzine, Pljevlja, Savnik, Mostar, Jablanica, Ravno, Stolac, Cajnice, Gacko, Bileca and Trebinje.
Total project value for Montenegro is € 229.159, out of which the EU finances € 194,762.48, while for BiH the total project value is € 198.454, with the EU contribution of € 167.504.
