Head of EU Delegation in Montenegro, Ambassador Mr Mitja Drobnic visited Berane Municipality on 28th June 2013. The visit was organized by the Delegation of the EU to Montenegro, the Municipality Berane and FORS Montenegro, within the project "Let me tell you something about the EU", which is funded from the communication budget of the EU Delegation to Montenegro.
Invitation for environmental civil society organisations for participation in the project „Green Economy Initiative” and the training programme
FORS Montenegro – Foundation for the Development of Northern Montenegro is implementing a project „Green Economy Initiative“, funded by the European Union through the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and implemented in thirteen municipalities in Montenegro – Andrijevica, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Danilovgrad, Žabljak, Kolasin, Mojkovac, Niksic, Plav, Pluzine, Pljevlja, Rozaje and Savnik. The main objectives of the project are promotion of the concept of green economy and its importance in community development through civil society initiatives, building capacity of civil society organisations to prepare and implement projects, participation in decision making, monitoring of public policies as well as their bigger involvement in creation and implementation of public policies related to environmental protection.
In cooperation with the Employment Bureaus of Berane, Bijelo Polje, Pljevlja, Plužine and Rozaje five workshops for the unemployed were implemented. The workshops were also attended by representatives of NGOs from these municipalities. The workshops, which were organized within the project "Let me tell you something about the EU," are intended to present the values of the EU and the integration process of Montenegro to this target group.

From 15 May to 5 June, FORS Montenegro organised educational lectures for students from 6 primary schools from Niksic, Berane and Pljevlja, who in this way learned about environmental protection, selective waste disposal and recycling. The lectures were realised in the following primary schools: Luka Simonovic - Niksic, Salko Aljkovic - Pljevlja, Tucanje - Berane, Trpezi - Berane, Polica - Berane and Mahmut Adrovic - Berane. Total of 36 lectures were organised with 657 students that participated. Students from first to fourth grade were involved in the lectures.
FORS Montenegro and EDEN Center jointly marked project completion that promoted separate waste collection and recycling with press conferences held in Berane on 6 June 2013 and in Shkoder on 12 June 2013. The events were covered by local and national media and attended by kids from primary schools that were main target group of the project as well as their teachers and headmasters, representatives of the municipalities, communities and public utility companies.
In Brussels on 30 and 31 May a workshop was organized on the theme "A New Approach to EU Accession Negotiations: The Rule of Law". At the invitation of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, with thirty civil society representatives from Montenegro, the workshop was attended by Veselin Sturanovic on behalf of FORS Montenegro. The workshop was held within the P2P program.

Municipality of Niksic intends to award a supply contract for Procurement of Equipment for Public Utility Company “Komunalno Niksic”, Public Company “Cistoca” Pljevlja and Public Company “Komunalno Berane” with financial assistance from the European Union, Cross-border programme Serbia – Montenegro under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) Component II. The equipment includes: 103 (one hundred and three) metal waste bins (containers ) (V=1,1m3) for selective waste collection, 3 (three) Secondary waste baling press machines, 2 (two) wood shredders and one waste vacuum cleaner for public spaces. World Environment Day, 5 June, is celebrated in the whole world through various ecological activities and campaigns with the aim to raise public awareness of the numerous environmental problems and the need for environmental protection. The World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, on the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm. In over 100 countries, numerous activities which promote responsible behaviour towards nature are realised on this day across the world, which, according to some estimates, more than half billion people take part in. In this way, the public attention is drawn to consequences of certain human actions which endanger our lives, such as air pollution, water pollution, forest destruction, extinction of a lot of animal and plant species, etc.
