Speaking at a workshop being held as part of the ongoing cooperation of Caritas Luxembourg and Persons with Disabilities Associations (PDAs) from Bijelo Polje municipality, on the Training Programme for Capacity Building of PDAs Emil Kocan, FORS Montenegro said: “Tackling PDAs integration into our society and promoting of EU integrations are among priorities for Montenegrin Society. The input into the development of future projects for EU funding from persons with disabilities is invaluable in identifying key issues which will contribute to new jobs creation and inclusion of PDAs into society in northern Montenegro area”.
FORS Montenegro executive director Mr.Veselin Sturanovic participated in one out of three training seminars to be held under the EU funded project „Raising the Institutional Capacities of Environmental NGOs in the Western Balkans?. Seminar took place in Sarajevo from 4th to 8th March 2009.
An International workshop is organized by the UNESCO Office in Venice – UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe (BRESCE), World Heritage Centre; UNEP Regional Office for Europe and the National Park Dolomiti Bellunesi in co-operation with the Montenegrin Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Montenegrin National Commission for UNESCO, Durmitor National Park, UNDP Montenegro, Central European Initiative (CEI) and the FORS Montenegro.
On 22 April 2009, FORS Montenegro, hosted representatives of Local Development Strategies (LDS) project from Pec, Kosovo, as a part of their study visit to Montenegro. Goal of the visit to Montenegro was to exchange experience in the field of European Integrations and established of new possible partnership for future collaboration in the EU funded Cross-border cooperation projects.
FORS Montenegro launched the project „Dotakni život, a ne dno“funded by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Media, Government of Montenegro, through the programme of distribution of part of the income collected from the lottery games. FORS Montenegro has been implementing this project in partnership with NGO ‘’Preporod’’ from Niksic in Berane, Bijelo Polje and Niksic.The main goal of this project is to decrease abuse of drugs and to contribute decreasing of the other addiction diseases of young people in Montenegro.
Rozaje, 02.02.2009- Informational meeting, with presence of NGOs sector representatives, small and medium enterprises, local public companies, educational institutions, was organized by local government of Rozaje Municipality with the goal to explain opportunities and methodology to effectively mobilize European funding (IPA, Instrument for Pre- Accession Assistance). Darko Kasalica, counselor in Secretariat for European Integrations, and Emil Kocan, representative of FORS Montenegro, introduced to participants cross border cooperation and transnational programs in which Montenegro is included.
Several initiatives have been taken from different institutions government or non-government to looking on Northern Montenegro business perspectives towards north-south linkages and open markets with the region, Europe and the world. FORS Montenegro as Regional Development Agency in northern Montenegro serves as an intermediary bridge to business, donors, local authorities and civil society, improves business climate and enhance the regional economic development through the implementation of common efforts.
Since 2002 CHF International had the pleasure to implement the program ''Community Revitalization through Democratic Action'' (CRDA), in 13 Municipalities of Northern Montenegro, financed by USAID. Together with our partners, governmental institutions, NGO sector, businesses, and donor community, we have accomplished impressive results and have witnessed of major steps in improvement of Northern region.
In addition to that we organized closing ceremony in Berane, 18 - 09 - 2008, by visiting projects, and having ceremony in the Cultural Center in Berane. Ceremony hosts were mayors of the Municipalities Berane and Bijelo Polje, USAID, American Embassy in Montenegro, CHF International and all our respective partners, who helped us during implementation and finalization of the CRDA and CRDA - E program.
