In order to inform youth on types and causes of natural and other disasters, their consequences and preventive measures for their reduction, educational lectures on Disaster Risk Reduction were organised from 21 to 28 April for 1st and 2nd grade high school students from Nikšić, Pljevlja, Plužine, Žabljak and Šavnik. The lectures were organised in cooperation with the Directorate for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro and its field offices in Nikšić and Pljevlja as well as Protection and Rescue Units from Nikšić, Pljevlja and Žabljak. The following topics were elaborated through interaction between lecturers and students: definition and types of emergency situations, authorities in charge of emergencies, most frequent emergency situations in Montenegro and the region in the previous decades, the role of youth in disaster risk reduction, preventive measures which should be undertaken by each individual, etc.
In order to inform potential applicants about the new financial perspective of the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance – IPA II, FORS Montenegro organised a workshop in Nikšić today, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. The workshop gathered representatives of civil society organisations, local authority, public institutions and enterprises, schools and other eligible applicants for this support of the European Union.
Ms Sonja Nikčević, President of the Local Assembly, Ms Ana Vukadinović, Acting General Director of the General Directorate for coordination of EU support programs, Mr Veselin Šturanović and Ms Tamara Todorović from FORS Montenegro spoke at the workshop. They presented sectors within IPA II, ways of support, financial allocation for Montenegro for the period 2014-2020, cross-border and transnational programs and other information relevant for potential beneficiaries of the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance.

Radionice se organizuju u okviru projekta „Let's grow together with IPA 2“, koji finansira Delegacija Evropske unije u Crnoj Gori kroz Instrument za civilno društvo, a koji ima za cilj jačanje kapaciteta organizacija civilnog društva iz navedenih opština za pisanje i realizaciju projekata, kao i promovisanje Instrumenta za pretpristupnu podršku – IPA i ostalih finansijskih programa Evropske unije među potencijalnim korisnicima.
Radionice će biti realizovane u saradnji sa Ministarstvom vanjskih poslova i evropskih integracija.

A four-day training for employees in the protection and rescue systems of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina on Disaster Risk Reduction - DRR was organised from 28 to 31 March in Mostar. It was the advanced course, preceded by a beginner module organized at the end of the last year in Montenegro. The training was attended by 25 representatives of the Directorate for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro, Ministry of Security of BiH, Civil Protection Administration of the Republic of Srpska and Federal Civil Protection Administration.
Within the project "Cross-border Fire Protection“, a training on Disaster Risk Reduction for employees in the protection and rescue system from BiH and Montenegro was organised from 14 to 17 December in Podgorica. The training was attended by 23 representatives of the Directorate for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro, Ministry of Security of BiH, Civil Protection Administration of the Republic of Srpska and Federal Civil Protection Administration. During the training, the participants had the opportunity to learn about key DRR concepts, disaster risk management components, risk management at the local level as a basis for DRR, identification, assessment and monitoring of risks, adaptation to climate changes, formulation of plans and strategies and international cooperation in this field. The trainers were Ms Cvetka Krajic Tomin and Mr Vlatko Jovanovski, international DRR consultants.
Kids from Niksic got the arranged playground in the very centre of the town, with high quality equipment and on an adequate base, which will hopefully provide them plenty of joyful and happy moments in the open.
The playground has been installed across the Shopping Mall "Niksicanka" and it includes seesaws, swings and a multifunctional play unit. Rubber tiles which cover the playground site meet hygienic and aesthetic criteria and contribute to improved safety during play. The playground project was supported within the campaign "Be responsible. It depends on you. Grey economy 0%", and it was submitted by the Municipality of Niksic and FORS Montenegro.
A cross-border training on extinguishing forest fires for 44 members of protection and rescue services and voluntary firefighting association from 5 municipalities from Montenegro and 10 municipalities from BiH was organised in Trebinje from 16 to 20 November.
The training and exercise were organized within the project "Cross-border Fire Protection" funded by the European Union through Cross-border Cooperation Programme BiH-Montenegro and implemented by FORS Montenegro, Directorate for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro, Ministry of Security of BiH and the Institute for Protection of Fires and Explosions from Sarajevo.
A five-day training for rescuers on open space firefighting started in Trebinje and it will be completed on Friday, 20 November by conducting a field exercise. Around 50 participants from 15 municipalities from Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are taking part in the training which is a part of the project "Cross-border Fire Protection", implemented by FORS Montenegro, Directorate for Emeregency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro, Ministry of Security of BiH and the Institute for Protection of Fires and Explosions from Sarajevo.
The project is funded by the European Union within Cross-border Cooperation Programme Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro and its aim is to improve the capacity of institutions and services dealing with emergencies for protection from fires and strengthening cross-border cooperation in this area.
In order to mark the International Day on Disaster Risk Reduction, FORS Montenegro and the Directorate of Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro organized workshops for students of 7 primary schools in the municipalities of Nikšić, Pljevlja, Plužine, Žabljak and Šavnik, with the topic of disaster risk reduction with the emphasis on fires. The aim of the workshops was raising awareness of students on dangers of disasters, their consequences and preventive and other actions in risky situations. The following subtopics were discussed during workshops: the term and types of emergency situations, bodies in charge of reacting in emergencies, a fire as an emergency situation, causes of fires, proper behaviour of the young in case of fires, preventive activities for reducing risks of fires, etc. Apart from the representatives of the Directorate for Emergency Situations, employees of protection and rescue units of the municipalities Žabljak and Pljevlja took part in the lectures.
