GREEN_BOOSTER
On 1 April 2026, FORS Montenegro launched the implementation of the Green Booster project, which aims to improve energy efficiency, promote the adoption of renewable energy sources, and integrate energy management practices into local policies and actions across Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. The project will contribute to the development of local policies and financial mechanisms for investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, improve energy management in public utility companies, and encourage decarbonisation through more active citizen engagement.
The project is being implemented in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. Its main activities include cooperation with local government units to develop policies and financial mechanisms for financing energy efficiency measures and the use of renewable energy sources, as well as conducting an awareness-raising campaign on the importance of the green transition.
The project is funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) under the International Partnerships Austria programme and by EUKI – the European Climate Initiative. The Austrian Development Agency is Austria’s federal agency responsible for development cooperation and humanitarian assistance. EUKI is a project funding instrument of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN). The EUKI call for project proposals is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The primary objective of EUKI is to strengthen climate cooperation within the European Union (EU) in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
