FORS Montenegro Becomes National Member of ISWA – Representing Montenegro in the Global Waste Management Network

We are pleased to inform the public that FORS Montenegro has become the national member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), thereby officially recognized as the representative of Montenegro within this prestigious global network.
This membership is a significant recognition of our longstanding efforts in the field of sustainable waste management, and a strong motivation to continue expanding knowledge, standards, and innovation in this area – now with the support and cooperation of leading global experts and institutions.
What is ISWA?
ISWA (International Solid Waste Association) is an independent global network that brings together professionals, public and private institutions, and organizations dedicated to advancing waste and resource management. Its mission is to develop sustainable solutions through education, knowledge sharing, and promotion of best practices worldwide.
What does this membership mean for us – and for Montenegro?
As a national member of ISWA, we gain:
- Direct access to international knowledge, tools, publications, and research;
- Opportunities to participate in international projects, working groups, trainings, and conferences;
- Networking with leading experts and peer organizations and institutions from around the world;
- A platform to promote good practices from Montenegro and the region on a global level;
- Support in the development of policies, strategies, and technical solutions for improved waste management.
Our mission remains the same, but our capabilities are growing.
As ISWA’s national member, we will continue working to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste management, educate professionals in the sector, and strengthen the capacities of local governments, public utilities, and other key stakeholders.
We believe that Montenegro has the potential to make significant progress in this sector, and this membership provides us with stronger tools and greater opportunities to actively contribute to that progress.
We thank all our partners and collaborators whose support and efforts led to this recognition, as well as the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development for their support in this important process. We look forward to new opportunities for cooperation at both national and international levels.
We see this membership not only as recognition of our past work, but also as a responsibility to move forward – with even more dedication and accountability.
