Training on Disaster Risk Reduction
Within the project “Cross-border Fiire Protection“, a training on Disaster Risk Reduction for employees in the protection and rescue system from BiH and Montenegro was organised from 14 to 17 December in Podgorica. The training was attended by 23 representatives of the Directorate for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro, Ministry of Security of BiH, Civil Protection Administration of the Republic of Srpska and Federal Civil Protection Administration. During the training, the participants had the opportunity to learn about key DRR concepts, disaster risk management components, risk management at the local level as a basis for DRR, identification, assessment and monitoring of risks, adapatation to climate changes, formulation of plans and strategies and international cooperation in this field. The trainers were Ms Cvetka KrajicTomin and mr Vlatko Jovanovski, international DRR consultants.
The four-day training is a beginning level of the education on this topic, within which an advanced course will be organised in BiH in the following period.
Apart from the improvement of kwnoledge and skills on disater risk reduction, the aim of the training was to improve cross-border cooperation, exchange experiences and best practices between institutions dealing with protection and rescue and emergencies and their employees who often face the same challenges and tasks in their work.
The project “Cross-border Fire Protection” is funded by the European Union through Cross-border Cooperation Programme BiH-Montenegro and implemented by FORS Montenegro, Directorate for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro, Ministry of Security of BiH and the Institute for Protection of Fires and Explosions from Sarajevo.
