Delivery and presentation of new equipment for protection and rescue from floods procured within the project of FORS Montenegro Disasters do not know borders

New equipment for protection and rescue in case of floods purchased for the Directorate for Emergency Management and protection and rescue services from Podgorica, Bar and Ulcinj within the project of FORS Montenegro “Disasters do not know borders“ was officially delivered and presented in Podgorica on 14 November. The total value of the equipment which consists of rubber and aluminium boats, boat engines, rescue suits and vests and other rescue equipment is € 77,880. The project is funded by the European Union within the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Montenegro – Albania, while in Montenegro it is co-funded by the Ministry of Public Administration. This is the fifth project by which FORS Montenegro wants to help services responsible for protection and rescue and for them we have purchased the equipment worth app. € 326,000 so far.

The presentation of the equipment was attended by Mevludin Nuhodžić, the Minister of Interior of Montenegro, Marija Vukčević, Director-General of the Directorate for Finance and Contracting of the EU Assistance Funds of the Ministry of Finance of Montenegro, Ivana Glišević Djurović, National IPA Coordinator, Office for European Integration of Montenegro, Donata Von-Sigsfeld, Programme Manager for Territorial Cooperation in the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Çesk Millja, the Prefect of Shkodra, Mirsad Mulić, Director-General of the Directorate for Emergency Management of Montenegro, Veselin Šturanović, the Executive Director of FORS Montenegro, representatives of the protection and rescue services, media and other relevant institutions and organisations. The equipment was officially taken over by Mirsad Mulić on behalf of the Directorate for Emergency Management and the heads of the protection and rescue services – Goran Janković from Podgorica, Amir Muslić from Bar and Saubih Mehmeti from Ulcinj.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The project “Disasters do not know borders”, implemented in Montenegro and Albania in partnership with the Directorate for Emergency Management and the Prefecture of Shkodra has the aim to strengthen capacities of institutions and services from Montenegro and Albania dealing with protection and rescue for disaster risk reduction, as well as raising awareness of the local population on the risks of floods.
