ECO school – a new project in the field of environmental protection
On 1st August, FORS Montenegro started the implementation of the project ECO School, which aims to contribute to familiarizing the citizens in the target area with the importance of environmental protection and mitigating the effects of climate change and adopting more environmentally responsible behaviour.
The main activities of the project include public debates, development of a mobile application on environmental protection, trainings for members of environmental organizations, sections and institutions including the procurement of equipment for them, creative and educational activities for students of primary and secondary schools such as ECO workshops, art and literary competition, ECO quiz, study visits to recycling yards and institutions responsible for environmental protection as well as national parks in Montenegro, afforestation actions, development of publications, promotion of reducing the use of plastic bags, media campaign and many other activities. ECO school represents a continuation of FORS Montenegro’s activities in the field of environmental protection in Montenegro.
The total value of the project is about € 110,000, with the contribution of the European Union of € 90,000, while co-financing in the amount of about € 20,000 was provided by the Ministry of Public Administration, Digital Society and Media. The Contracting Authority for the Project is the Directorate for Public Works.
The place of realization of this eighteen-month project includes the municipalities of Nikšić, Plužine, Šavnik, Žabljak, Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Berane, Andrijevica, Plav, Rožaje, Gusinje, Petnjica, Mojkovac, Kolašin and Danilovgrad.
